Upshur County Release Meanings
“Released” means one custodian’s authority over a person ended. It does not always mean the person walked into the community. The Upshur County Jail may book someone who is awaiting trial, serving a local sentence, held for another county, or waiting for state or federal transfer. Bond, a dismissal, a court order, time served, and sentence completion can lead to community release. Transfer to the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, another county, the U.S. Marshals Service, or immigration custody ends the Upshur booking but continues confinement elsewhere.

The jail record and court file answer different questions. The jail records physical custody; the clerk preserves judgments, dismissals, bond orders, jail credit, and supervision orders. Those are form-stated charges, not a promise of the final bill. It lists cash, cashier’s check, or money order and says cards and personal checks are not accepted.
Upshur County Release Record Limits

The county publishes no official recent-release feed labeled for a rolling day or three-day period. For one named person, two independent records are stronger than one dynamic search.
Upshur County Release Report Warning
On August 2, 2026, the Sheriff’s “Daily Jail Report” link opened a PDF generated March 10, 2026. The official target was nearly five months stale. Its indexed fields included booking date, inmate, date of birth, location, SO number, charge description, court, charge disposition, and bond amount. Those fields describe a dated custody population and charge context, not a release archive.
The label “Daily” does not prove reliable daily refresh, a fixed publication hour, or public retention. Comparing names across copies would still miss transfers, spelling changes, and unposted events. The correct fallback is to call, request existing book-in/out sheets for an exact interval, and confirm the reason through the court or receiving system.

Upshur County TDCJ Release Lookup
The Texas Department of Criminal Justice offender search applies after a person enters state prison or state jail and to many people on parole or mandatory supervision. It is not a history of every short Upshur County Jail stay. Use a TDCJ number when known, or search by name and refine with SID, sex, and race. Open the detail and compare birth date, offense, county, and identifiers.

Read the status literally. A parole-office location reflects community supervision, not confinement in a prison unit. A fully discharged older person may disappear from the public form. TDCJ also offers no-charge email information through pia@tdcj.texas.gov and a telephone route. The email request can seek location, offenses, incarceration history, projected release date, and parole eligibility, but it does not provide photographs or Social Security numbers.

Upshur County Release Court Split
Upshur County records have both a custodian split and a date split. The District Clerk holds felony criminal records. The County Clerk handles county-level matters, including misdemeanors, through two linked systems. Records through February 28, 2025 use the legacy portal; records from March 1, 2025 forward use the newer UCMS portal. A search spanning the cutoff must check both before concluding that no disposition exists.
Search a name and variants, then narrow by cause number, date, court, and case type. Open the docket and read the signed judgment, dismissal, bond order, jail-credit entry, supervision order, revocation, or other final instrument. “Closed” does not itself prove physical release. The court order establishes legal authority; the Sheriff book-out time establishes when processing ended.

Upshur County Post-Release Supervision
Parole and probation are different systems. TDCJ Parole Division supervises eligible people released from state imprisonment, while the Texas Board of Pardons and Paroles makes release decisions. Upshur-Marion Community Supervision and Corrections Department handles local adult probation ordered by a court. A county bond release may carry pretrial terms, but it does not automatically make a person a parolee or probationer.
Use the judgment to confirm probation. Use the TDCJ detail and Parole Division directory to verify parole or mandatory supervision. Upshur parole cases map to the Mount Pleasant District Parole Office, while local probation is administered in Gilmer. A blue warrant or alleged violation can return a releasee to custody, so an old supervision label is not proof of current freedom. Upshur County Release Notifications
Texas IVSS-Counties replaced county VINE on September 1, 2025 and migrated existing registrations. The current IVSS-Counties portal may support county booking, release, escape, death, TDCJ transfer, and configured court-event notices when the county participates. Confirm Upshur participation in the live interface. Search one identified person, compare facility and booking facts, and read the status and update time exactly.
A notice is not a certified book-out sheet. The portal warns that people no longer in custody may not appear. During research, online account creation was temporarily unavailable, making the round-the-clock operator at 866-268-8959 the registration fallback. Current IVSS instructions do not show the old VINE four-digit PIN step.
Upshur County Federal Release Paths
A person tied to Upshur County can move through federal custody without entering a local release database. The BOP Inmate Locator covers sentenced federal prisoners from 1982 onward and can show a release date with “Released” or “Not in BOP Custody.” That only ends BOP custody. It does not rule out state or local custody or prove that federal supervised release ended.
A federal pretrial defendant may sit in a local jail while legally in U.S. Marshals custody because the Marshals Service owns no jails. USMS has no public historical release locator. Reconcile the hosting jail with the federal docket before conviction, then use BOP after designation. The BOP form captured during research shows number and name search routes.
A BOP result belongs in the federal chain, not as proof of an Upshur County Jail release.
Upshur County ICE Release Checks
Upshur’s dated jail report can display an “ICE DETAINER” row. That label shows a hold can appear in the county record; it does not prove an ICE contract, a completed transfer, or community release. Ask the Sheriff for the receiving disposition first. Then use the ICE Online Detainee Locator promptly if the record says transfer to ICE.
ODLS can include current detainees and people released from ICE custody within the prior 60 days. Search by nine-digit A-number and country of birth, or by exact name, country of birth, and optional birth date. A missing result may reflect the time window, a spelling variant, exclusion, lag, another transfer, or the fact that ICE never took custody. Double absence never proves community release.
Travel After Upshur County Release
GoBus provides demand-response transportation in Camp and Upshur counties on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Requests require at least 24 hours of advance notice and remain subject to availability. That makes GoBus a planning option for a known discharge, not a jail shuttle and not a dependable ride for an unplanned same-day release.
Before arranging travel, confirm that the event is a community release rather than transfer. Release timing is not published as a fixed Upshur County schedule, and weekend or administrative processing can change when someone physically leaves. A confirmed destination and alternate ride plan are more useful than relying on the stale Daily Jail Report.
Upshur County Release Facility
Upshur County Jail is the one verified adult detention facility physically in the county for this manifest. The Sheriff’s Jail Division operates it at the Justice Center. It holds pretrial detainees, local sentenced people, and people awaiting another authority. Community exits may follow bond, dismissal, sentence completion, or another court authorization; transfers instead lead to TDCJ, another county, federal custody, or immigration custody.
Those Texas Commission on Jail Standards figures cover October 2020 through September 2021 and exclude contract inmates. They are dated scale, not a current count or annual release total. During courthouse restoration, local reporting also documented that the removed fifth floor once housed the county jail. That history should not be confused with the present facility or current release process.
